Why Do Ears Ring!

For generations people have suffered from ringing in the ears, commonly known as tinnitus. Ringing can occur in one or both ears and may seem high or low pitch. Almost everyone at some point, suffered from ringing in the ears, but do not consider themselves suffering from tinnitus, because this experience was short-lived.

A sudden ringing in the ears can be explained in several ways. This incident would be a buildup of wax or dirt in the ear canal. As simple as it seems it can be very dangerous to try to dig the wax out. Buying an ear wash from your pharmacy is the best way to clean the accumulation of wax from your ears. Do not rule out an ear infection as a cause of tinnitus as well.

Tinnitus can be caused by prescription drugs. These drugs can lead to a semi-permanent case of tinnitus and / or hearing loss. Fortunately, reducing the dose of these medications can reduce or completely eliminate the tinnitus. Analgesic drugs such as salicylic (aspirin dose), naproxen sodium (naproxen, Aleve), ibuprofen, other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, aminoglycosides, antidepressants, diuretics, quinine / anti-malaria contraceptives, oral antibiotics and chemotherapy to name a few. ototoxic antibiotics taken for an ear infection can cause a case of ringing also.

Sometimes a case of sudden ear ringing can be caused by a natural phenomenon rather than a dirty ear (or ear wax), or an ear infection, but an event like a car accident. Upon receipt of a traumatic head injury in a car accident, many of the victims described a sudden case of tinnitus. The same can be said after receiving a series of dental treatments such as removing a tooth, or having a tooth ultrasonic cleaning. These teeth procedures can damage your hearing as well. Since the bone makes the sound directly into the ear, hearing loss can be profound, and because it is the inner ear, there is not much you can do to protect yourself from injury. Evan earplugs do not help, because the sound is internal, not external. There are some established procedures that you can protect yourself. MRI and CT scan or other invasive scanning machines make noise that you can be protected from with ear plugs.

If you experience a sudden episode of Buzz, it is likely to be only a temporary phenomenon and leave just as quickly. If you attended a concert or some other experience were your around a noisy environment , earrings should pass in a day or two. In most of these cases, inner ear damage is not permanent unless you do it all the time.
